Nature of the project
Motivation
Meeting of friends and consolidating friendships in the Norton neighborhood of Matos Coimbra.
Put older people in contact with teenagers even if they are not from the same family to combat loneliness.
The older ones have a lot to tell the younger ones and feel useful.
In the local church, this project is created and a young person or group of young people proposes to choose an elderly person
Origin and foundation
It was born from the need to bring together the young people of this neighborhood as we did in my time.
In this neighborhood there are already several squares and they have been rehabilitated, now it is only necessary to establish objectives for all of them and make them more dynamic. The idea is for little ones and adults to come together in Praça dos Açores as there are swings and some equipment for seniors to exercise. In Praça da India there is a climbing wall, space to play football, chess tables where older people can teach younger people how to play in an exchange of knowledge, whoever says chess says cards.
The Cabo Verde square hosts some events such as the Lusofonia meeting, storytellers, so it is the only one that is not characterized. It is here that a meeting place for those aged 14 to 18 could be created, away from the eyes of older people, where cinema sessions, gastronomy workshops and other activities could be created according to the interests of these young teenagers.
The population of this neighborhood is mostly elderly, with many young people on vacation with nothing to do, i.e. playing on their cell phones, and the elderly would not be alone and the young would not be engrossed in their screens.
